The recording tips contain glass microtips embedded in a molded
plastic jacket. The tips are provided in racks of 48 and guarantee
highest seal rates and recording quality combined with optimized
liquid and robotic handling.
ChipTips enable a superior internal solution exchange.
The microphotograph shows both a ChipTip and a standard FlipTip
for comparison. ChipTips enable the Flyscreen machine to monitor
ligand-gated ion channels. In flyion's standard tips, solution exchange
takes about 60 seconds due to the unstirred layer. In the new ChipTip
solutions are puffed directly onto the cell membrane yielding exchange
rates of less than 50 milliseconds. Please refer to "Ligand
